Margrit Boghosian, LCSW, PPSC

Hi. I’m Margrit. Thanks for visiting. I am a licensed therapist in Los Angeles, California with over 20 years of experience working with a wide range of clients. I come from a multi-cultural background and have a deep understanding of how culture can play a role in how we experience our mental health. I received both my Bachelors in Psychology (2001) and my Masters in Social Work (2003) from USC (Go Trojans!). I have helped clients cope with a variety of challenges including stress/anxiety, depression, infertility, post-partum, parenting issues (including navigating through the special education system), motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence, life changes and transitions, career difficulties, and relationship/family conflict.

The way I practice therapy is rooted in ensuring that my clients feel that I am providing them with support in a compassionate, empathic and non-judgmental manner. I prefer a less clinical more casual approach to therapy. Let me share with you a bit about what you can expect in our work together. I focus on your strengths (strength-based) meaning all the things you are doing right! I focus on helping you identify the problem (problem-focused) meaning you tell me what’s not working for you and what you want to change. Then I help you tackle the issue (action-oriented). This means we work together to create a unique plan catered around your needs and personalized goals. I may assign you with brief homework assignments to help you practice the strategies we work on during our sessions and encourage you to implement these skills outside of our sessions.

I believe that I could help you explore those areas of your life that you want to change. I also believe that I could help you develop coping strategies to manage those areas in your life that you may not have power and control to change. I can help you identify and gently challenge your negative thoughts that lead to unhelpful behaviors. By transforming your negative thoughts, we can work together toward positive actions that will help you reach your goals and meet your emotional needs.

Asking for help and reaching out can be tough but you’ve already had the courage to take that step and seek help. I look forward to working with you and helping you through this challenge.

When I’m not working I make an effort to enjoy life and all of its offerings. I am married with 3 children and a dog. I enjoy volunteering and mentoring girl scouts and spending time outdoors camping and hiking.
